i b list forum this last week I was asked to do a wedding cake for a Lord of the Rings themed wedding. A number of the people who have heard about it have asked me to post the pics here so that they can see it. This is a picture of the finished cake

O V F F I use
paperbackswap.com and
bookmooch. I find bookmooch easier to use and more generous with the credits, but often I can find books on paperbackswap that I can't find on bookmooch. I have my books listed on both. if you're going to join paperbackswap, do it now: they give 3 credits to new members when you list 10 books. Soon it'll be going down to only 2.

NEW items from the June 2007 meeting at North Canton Public Library. Thanks Sandi, and thank you, North Canton Public Library for hosting our high-tech meeting.

Sandi started the show off with a series of her favorite links. (I may have missed a couple at the beginning of the meeting.) The first I saw was the link to Texas A+M's searchable database of authors and works. It is housed at the Cushing Library, http://library.tamu.edu/cushing/collectn/lit/science/sci-fi/index.html, fantasy and sf collection. The database is at http://isfdb.org, along with other features like lists of upcoming books and a listing of Top 100 Books. More Texas A+M resources are at the SF and Fantasy Research Database page at http://library.tamu.edu/cushing/SFFRD/.
Here is a link to http://feministsf.org. Yes, it's a feminist SF page. Bibliographies, reading lists, and other resources are accessible there.
At the page to purchase Boldly Writing, A Trekker Fan and Zine History by Joan Marie Verba, found at http://www.ftlpublications.com/bw.htm, you can read a PDF version if you have an Acrobat Reader.
One of Doug's recent favorites is this parody of a galactic package service, D.I.P.S., at http://www.dipscorp.com.
Here is a link to a great news source for sf fandom, http://trufen.net. This labor of love is updated regularly.
Mentioned at the meeting was an old-fashioned paper book, The Road, by Cormac McCarthy. It was an Oprah book and you can read about it at http://www2.oprah.com/obc_classic/featbook/road/obc_featbook_road_main.jhtml.
Tim really likes the ongoing comic adventures from Phil Foglio. They're at http://www.studiofoglio.com/.

Terinu, at http://www.terinu.com/ is a sci-fi adventure comic written and drawn by Peta Hewitt. She's a nurse who lives outside of Melbourne, Australia. The main story concerns a fifteen-year old alien boy, but there are a variety of strong female characters throughout the book.
